If you’re planning a full day out, consider Cinque Terre. It’s is a very picturesque stretch of coast punctuated by colorful villages hanging from the rocky cliffs. Each of the villages – Monterosso with its beaches, picturesque Vernazza, quiet Corniglia, iconic Manarola, and lively Riomaggiore – offers a unique charm. You can visit Cinque Terre by hiking on the scenic coastal trails, or by taking a boat trip. The train is also a good option for moving between villages. However, be prepared for crowds. It can also be pricier than other spots, and the steep terrain isn’t for everyone.
To visit Cinque Terre we recommend taking a train from La Spezia. Avoid driving into the area as parking is very limited.
